We’re Beasts.

Who Wander.

And may or may not be lost.

A Base for Wandering

A Base for Wandering

Over the last couple of weeks Zeynep and I (mostly Zeynep) have been busy setting up a base of operations for our wanderings. Our flat is in the Cihangir neighborhood of Istanbul, which is filthy with hipsters who don’t get out of bed until noon, street cats who are quite demanding of rubs, and establishments dedicated to the satisfaction of appetites for food and drink. Our kind of place.

After two years in a too-big expat house in Myanmar, this involved significantly more Marie Kondo-ing than expected. But the finished arrangement is super comfy and well Zeynep-ed.

The view from the balcony is pretty hard to walk away from. Fortunately for me, there’s a well-established Turkish tradition of sitting by the sea, drinking a stiff drink, and talking about how to save the country. So I’m in good and long-standing company.

We’ll be bouncing back and forth from here over the coming year. If you or yours are travelling through the region and want a place to stay in one of the world’s great cities, just let us know!
